History - The 900 year old Family Home
Since the day it was built Colstoun has been home to the Broun's. For over 900 years the history and legend have provided the back drop for a truly special atmosphere.

Just 30 minutes south-east of Edinburgh Colstoun has remained a hidden gem set into Woodland and farmland hidden away from the world for 900 years until it was opened to the public in 2010.

As you walk around Colstoun you will notice Pears. The Brouns were given 'The Pear' by Hugo de Gifford who was reputed to be a wizard. The Brouns have protected this Pear for centuries and the full story of The Pear is only told at the house.
Garden & Grounds - A Modern Garden
Colstoun Gardens are the subject of a long-term restoration & redevelopment plan. The house is surrounded by 100 acres of Victorian Parkland. Colstoun Walled Garden plays hosts to Britain's most unique event venue "The Polytunnel" and also serves as the Kitchen Garden for The Mart Farmshop East Linton, Colstoun House and many event caterers.

Colstoun Walled Garden is in the midst of its redevelopment and now provides an abundance of seasonal fruit and vegetables as well as a beautiful setting for weddings and events.

We are committed to creating the most beautiful parkland possible whilst being as sustainable as possible. We have progressed 50 acres around the house in to wild meadow over the last 3 years.
