5 Of The Best Floral Arrangements From 2018

I am going to start this blog by saying I have literally no idea what I am talking about when it comes to bouquets or floristry. In my list, I've included a variety of styles and seasons that I really like and florists that I think are really professional and great to work with, but in all honesty I don't have a huge knowledge about floristry or about bouquets.

Colstoun is surrounded by beautiful trees and gardens... this means that the landscape dramatically changes throughout the seasons. Right now, I am sitting looking out at the trees with almost no leaves and I can see through to the small village of Bolton. In the middle of summer the woods are a fortress of big dark green leaves and the next-door village seems like 100 miles away. I really wanted to show a couple of bouquets that I think compliment the season in which they were made. The Spring flowers, summer green leaves and autumnal browns and reds.

Just like it is important to trust your photographer and their professionalism it is hugely important to have a similar relationship with your florist. Throughout your day people will be snapping photos of you and your bouquet and it is something that you don't see until the morning you are married.

I hope you enjoy my selections and I would love to hear if you think that any other bouquets are especially beautiful. I don't always get to see photos of all the flowers and it is incredibly hard to only choose 5 or 10. I've also included the social media and website links to all of the florists and photographers from this blog many of which featured on my Top 10 photographs of the Year blog which amazingly got over 860 views in a week... which I am blown away by.

Thanks,

Mackie

5) Feather Grass Florals

Why This One?

This lovely bouquet wasn't actually for a wedding. The Bouquet was for a photo shoot done at Colstoun just a few weeks ago. I really love the lengths that Feather Glass Florals went in producing such a wonderful backdrop for the photo and the huge variety of flowers involved in the bouquet. It is an amazing example of how to combine different intensities of colour with the bright pinks all the way through to the brown fall leaves. It was an all-around lovely day having all the ladies along to Colstoun for the wedding photoshoot and the photos produced by Morgan & Rose Photography were incredible.

4) Narcissus Flower Shop & School

Why This One?

From the predominantly reds and browns we change direction entirely here with a beautiful arrangement from Narcissus. This bouquet is dominated with beautiful green foliage. accented perfectly with light pinks and creams. I really enjoy how 'full' this bouquet is. It is a really beautiful collection of flowers put together very skilfully. The photographic style of Christine McNally really compliments the bouquet. Most of all I love this bouquet because I am a bit of a sucker for roses, this bouquet is full of them and I think it makes for a lovely classic look.

3) Jack Fleuriste

Why This One?

Again, another bouquet that is 100% complimented by the photographer choice, Anna Urban shoots with all natural lights and her photos are filled with golden tones. The flowers themselves are all lovely brightly coloured blooms that are contrasted with deep dark foliage which adds up to a bold statement. I absolutely love the flowers and I especially love how all of the bride’s maid’s flowers are also full of beautiful, big & colourful flowers.

2) Secret Garden Events

Why This One?

Very similar in tone to the Narcissus bouquet these floral arrangements from Secret Garden Events are wonderful and classic. Carley Buick Photography did a great job capturing the very elegant floral arrangements on display for Jen's wedding. What I especially liked about these arrangements is that the centre of the bouquets were overwhelmingly flowers and the outside was predominantly foliage meaning the flowers were front and centre of your attention and you could really appreciate them. Mainly consisting of very light White, Cream and Pink flowers the little shout of dark pink looked beautiful. All in All, these arrangements were classic, tasteful and beautifully put together.

1) Wild Flower Workshop

Why This One?

My favourite floral arrangement of the year was by the very talented Wild Flower Workshop. I think that the colours really compliment Colstoun and all the subtle pink accents work really well with the buildings around the estate. A particular favourite part of the bouquet for me was the pink pepper corns which I thought were a lovely addition and at Colstoun it is no secret that we love everything pink. When I asked the bride (Amanda) what she thought about the whole experience of working with a florist she said "Barbara [Wild Flower Workshop] was an absolute joy to work with - we initially agreed a palette of colours and then gave her complete free reign to be creative with all of the flowers/foliage/grasses and textures used as we trusted her 100%.".

I know I've just written a photography top 10 but each year it seems as though Wonderful & Strange miss out through timing. I love their photography and glad that I can feature them in some way this year, they have got some cracking shots from Amanda's wedding and really capture the fun bits and the serious bits of a wedding perfectly.

I love these flowers and think they are so different and compliment perfectly the time of year (mid-autumn) I'll leave you with a full-page photo of what I think to be the best bouquet of the year. But I'd love to hear what you think? Have I missed any beautiful arrangements?
