Colstoun Wedding Videos 2018

Over the years something noticable has happened with weddings, especially Colstoun weddings. More and more couples are having professional Videographers capture their big day. No longer are couples happy with just with photographs of their wedding they want video. In 2017 I found out via a facebook post by Jo from Bowery Productions that statistically biggest regret most couples had from their wedding was not spending more money on the Video. and we've seen a noticeable increase in the number of couples opting to include a video in their plans.

Although we don't advocate spending money for the sake of money I can highly recommend EVERY videographer in this list and employing a videographer generally. As a venue that hosts a number of weddings each year it is so lovely to be able to look back 3, 4 or even 6 months later when the videos get posted to facebook/inst agram/vimeo/youtube and remember all the happy moments of the weekends that we are so lucky to host at Colstoun.

The tears and the beautiful speeches and the couples that we are blessed to have as clients but also friends.

I hope you enjoy the videos that I've selected from this year at Colstoun and don't pay too much attention to the words, they are just my opinion, what matters is what you as a couple want from your big day.

The way in which Cinemate Films captured Sara & Cameron's wedding was really great, simple as that. All the videos I've posted are interesting and unique in their own way but Cinemate use an ultra-wide screen aspect to add a completely different dynamic to the film. They use a relatively high contrast and subtle but high quality colour grading to compliment the most popular styles of wedding photography. On top of all this the guys are really nice, professional and never in the way (a real skill when lugging around video equipment).

Lisa & Alastair chose Boda Productions to capture their special day. Boda have a slightly saturated colour grading which adds lovely warmth to their wedding films. The film is relaxed and truly captured how down to earth Lisa & Alistair are. the video is full of really upbeat music and they managed to capture the smiles, the emotional bits and the surroundings really well.

55 North Wedding Films captured Andrei & Rosie's wedding amazingly. They also captured East Lothian perfectly with some lovely drone shots. They use slider and time lapse to great effect. They have the perfect amount of movement in each shot which doesn't distract the viewer but keeps it very "real" this is a sign of truly high production value. Another really good aspect of their production is the audio quality, all around lovely video and very well produced.

Fortune favours the bold. Orangetide Films isn't going to be for everyone but then again nor is Colstoun. Cara & John are the perfect couple to have chosen this highly artistic production style. Orangetide adds real flair using a 'double exposure' type technique to give amazing before and after type shots. I've watched quite a few videos from Orangetide Films and although its very easy to say "that is an Orangetide Film" you know it is going to be something special, a one off and just a little bit abstract, something which is quite challenging in the world of weddings/photography/videography. I really like Orangetide Films and would happily recommend their services.

Spoiler Alert Chris Kelly Films filmed the wedding of one of our "top 10 wedding photos of 2018" photographers wedding last year. Music is just as important to a brilliant wedding video as the images. it sets the scene and Chris Kelly is really great at choosing the right music for the individual wedding. He manages to capture the excitement of Sarah & Duncan's wedding perfectly. he perfectly showcases the venue and captures the character of Sarah & Duncan. Wedding videography isn't an easy job but Chris does it perfectly.

Bowery Productions perfectly captures the raw natural beauty of The Colstoun Estate. Throughout this short video she plays bird song and shows clips from the woodland surrounding the house. Jo captures the lovely intricate details and the small parts of a day so perfectly. It adds up to create a stunning visual story. She has chosen a wonderful soundtrack and blends scenes together with real class. All of this adds up to a really polished product and something that is super emotional and great to watch.
